Plan, direct, or coordinate church school programs designed to promote religious education among church membership. May provide counseling and guidance relative to marital, health, financial, and religious problems.

Job Duties and Tasks for: "Directors, Religious Activities and Education"

1) Analyze member participation and changes in congregation emphasis to determine needs for religious education.

2) Collaborate with other ministry members to establish goals and objectives for religious education programs, and to develop ways to encourage program participation.

 

3) Confer with clergy members, congregation officials, and congregation organizations to encourage support of and participation in religious education activities.

4) Develop and direct study courses and religious education programs within congregations.

5) Identify and recruit potential volunteer workers.


 

6) Implement program plans by ordering needed materials, scheduling speakers, reserving space, and handling other administrative details.

7) Locate and distribute resources such as periodicals and curricula in order to enhance the effectiveness of educational programs.

8) Publicize programs through sources such as newsletters, bulletins, and mailings.

9) Schedule special events such as camps, conferences, meetings, seminars, and retreats.

10) Select appropriate curricula and class structures for educational programs.

11) Train and supervise religious education instructional staff.
