Operate machines that: Emboss names, addresses, and other matter onto metal plates for use in addressing machines; print names, addresses, and similar information onto items such as envelopes, accounting forms, and advertising literature; address, fold, stuff, seal, and stamp mail; and open envelopes.

Job Duties and Tasks for: "Mail Machine Operator"

1) Inserts material for printing or addressing into loading rack on machine.

2) Starts machine.

 

3) Operates embossing machine or typewriter to make corrections, additions, and changes on address plates.

4) Removes printed material from machine, such as labeled articles, postmarked envelopes or tape, and folded sheets.

5) Selects type of die size.


 

6) Adjusts machine guides, rollers, and card insert prior to starting machine.

7) Changes machine ribbon.

8) Checks ink level, adds ink, and fills paste reservoir.

9) Observes machine operation to detect evidence of malfunctions during production run.

10) Makes adjustments to machine and inspects output for defects.

11) Positions plates, stencils, or tapes in machine magazine.
