1) Positions machine mechanisms and depresses levers to apply marks on roller.

2) Aligns plate with markings on machine table and tacks to table.

3) Turns screws to align machine components.

4) Determines ground setting according to weight of fabric, type of design, and colors in design.

5) Examines marks on roller to verify alignment and detect defects.

6) Records ground setting, length of roller, width of engraving, and circumference of roller on production sheet.
