Basic Job Description:Control equipment to regulate flow and pressure of gas for utility companies and industrial use. May control distribution of gas for a municipal or industrial plant or a single process in an industrial plant.

1) Controls equipment to regulate flow and pressure of gas to feedlines of boilers, furnaces, and related steam-generating or heating equipment.
2) Observes, records, and reports flow and pressure gauge readings on gas mains and fuel feedlines.
3) Changes charts in recording meters.
4) Determines causes of abnormal pressure variances and makes corrective recommendations, such as installation of pipe to relieve overloading.
5) Determines required governor adjustments, according to customer-demand estimates.
6) Adjusts governors to maintain specified gas pressure and volume.
