1) Examine records, reports, and documents in order to establish facts and detect discrepancies.
2) Inspect government-owned equipment and materials in the possession of private contractors, in order to ensure compliance with contracts and regulations and to prevent misuse.
3) Inspect manufactured or processed products to ensure compliance with contract specifications and legal requirements.
4) Locate and interview plaintiffs, witnesses, or representatives of business or government in order to gather facts relevant to inspections or alleged violations.
5) Prepare correspondence, reports of inspections or investigations, and recommendations for action.
6) Recommend legal or administrative action to protect government property.
