Basic Job Description:

Package, store, and convey irradiated fuels and wastes, using hoists, mechanical arms, shovels, and industrial truck.



Job Duties and Tasks for: "Irradiated-Fuel Handler"


Operates machines and equipment to package, store, or transport loads of waste materials.

Follows prescribed safety procedures and complies with federal laws regulating waste disposal methods.

Cleans contaminated equipment for reuse, using detergents and solvents, sandblasters, filter pumps and steam cleaners.

Records number of containers stored at disposal site, and specifies amount and type of equipment and waste disposed.

Mixes and pours concrete into forms to encase waste material for disposal.

Drives truck to convey contaminated waste to designated sea or ground location.

Loads and unloads materials into containers and onto trucks, using hoists or forklift.
