Job Duties and Tasks for: "Fish and Game Warden"

1) Seize equipment used in fish and game law violations, and arrange for disposition of fish or game illegally taken or possessed.

2) Serve warrants, make arrests, and compile and present evidence for court actions.

 

3) Document and detail the extent of crop, property, or habitat damage, and make financial loss estimates and compensation recommendations.

4) Inspect commercial operations relating to fish and wildlife, recreation, and protected areas.

5) Participate in search-and-rescue operations and in firefighting efforts.


 

6) Perform facilities maintenance work such as constructing or repairing structures, and controlling weeds and pests.

7) Promote and provide hunter and trapper safety training.

8) Provide assistance to other local law enforcement agencies as required.

9) Recommend revisions or changes in hunting and trapping regulations or seasons and in animal management programs so that wildlife balances and habitats can be maintained.

10) Supervise the activities of seasonal workers.

11) Survey areas and compile figures of bag counts of hunters in order to determine the effectiveness of control measures.

12) Address schools, civic groups, sporting clubs, and the media to disseminate information concerning wildlife conservation and regulations.

13) Collect and report information on populations and conditions of fish and wildlife in their habitats, availability of game food and cover, and suspected pollution.

14) Design and implement control measures to prevent or counteract damage caused by wildlife or people.

 

15) Investigate crop, property, or habitat damage or destruction, or instances of water pollution, in order to determine causes and to advise property owners of preventive measures.

16) Investigate hunting accidents and reports of fish and game law violations, and issue warnings or citations and file reports as necessary.

17) Issue licenses, permits, and other documentation.

18) Patrol assigned areas by car, boat, airplane, horse, or on foot, to enforce game, fish, or boating laws and to manage wildlife programs, lakes, or land.

19) Protect and preserve native wildlife, plants, and ecosystems.

20) Provide advice and information to park and reserve visitors.

21) Collect royalties assessed on fish, wildlife and timber resources.
