1) Inspects couplings, airhoses, journal boxes, and handbrakes to ensure that they are securely fastened and function properly.
2) Adjusts controls to regulate air-conditioning, heating, and lighting on train for comfort of passengers.
3) Assists passengers to board and leave train.
4) Answers questions from passengers concerning train rules, station, and timetable information.
5) Collects tickets, fares, and passes from passengers.
6) Pulls or pushes track switch to reroute cars.
