Assist social scientists in laboratory, survey, and other social research. May perform publication activities, laboratory analysis, quality control, or data management. Normally these individuals work under the direct supervision of a social scientist and assist in those activities which are more routine.

1) Edit and submit protocols and other required research documentation.
2) Obtain informed consent of research subjects and/or their guardians.
3) Prepare tables, graphs, fact sheets, and written reports summarizing research results.
4) Prepare, manipulate, and manage extensive databases.
5) Provide assistance in the design of survey instruments such as questionnaires.
6) Screen potential subjects in order to determine their suitability as study participants.
7) Track research participants, and perform any necessary follow-up tasks.
8) Verify the accuracy and validity of data entered in databases; correct any errors.

9) Allocate and manage laboratory space and resources.
